ALISTAIR HOUGHTON
Senior Physiotherapist
Hi, I’m Alistair. I’m originally from Mackay in North Queensland and completed my Physiotherapy degree at James Cook University in Townsville, graduating in 2016. Since then, I’ve gained broad clinical experience across Brisbane, Mackay and most recently Perth, with time spent exploring and working in the Kimberley region of WA.
I have a strong background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and rehabilitation, working in both clinic and hospital settings, including orthopaedic surgery wards. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside multi-disciplinary teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists, GPs and orthopaedic surgeons. I’ve also provided physio support for semi-professional rugby league and AFL clubs, which sparked my ongoing interest in sports injury rehabilitation.
I enjoy helping active people recover from sports injuries, surgery, and persistent or complex pain conditions. I have a special interest in managing shoulder, hip and knee osteoarthritis, and supporting patients with long-term joint pain to avoid or delay surgery when possible. I’ve been a GLA:D® certified clinician for over five years, helping people improve their mobility and confidence through targeted strength and movement strategies.
My treatment approach combines hands-on therapy with tailored exercise programs. I place a strong emphasis on clear communication and collaboration—both with my patients and their broader medical team—so we can work together towards a full and lasting recovery.
Outside the clinic, I’m a passionate cricket and rugby league fan (with growing interest in the AFL since moving west), and enjoy keeping active through hiking, strength training and gym work. I’m a lover of travel, live music and good food—having visited 39 countries so far, I’m now focused on exploring more of WA with my 4WD setup.
